Message from the Candidate:

I have lived abroad in El Salvador and Ghana. I understand intimately the struggles and joys of living as an expatriate. I believe that Americans resident abroad, whether or not they serve in the diplomatic core, function on a practical level, as representatives of our country and its values. Americans living abroad share knowledge and gain knowledge, and when they return to the United States, whether for a visit, for a change of career, or for retirement, share that incredibly valuable experience with other Americans. I also know that it can be difficult living abroad, distant from friends and family and from changes happening in America. It is especially hard when those changes profoundly impact your life abroad. I support the nation building work of the State Department, and the ideals of international diplomatic relations. I believe that Congress has a responsibility to hold the President accountable when he or she violates the interest of Americans by undermining and actively deteriorating our relationships with allies and trade partners. I am committed to be accountable to my constituents, and them alone, including my constituents resident abroad. I have not taken any corporate PAC money. I commit to fighting for the ideals of our democracy, and for looking for common ground, and bipartisan solutions that make life better for those I serve..
